Creating and managing contracts
Understand contract statuses
Learn what each contract status means and which contracts may need action.
Last updated August 25, 2026
A contract's status shows where it is in its current lifecycle.
- Drafted: The contract has not been sent. You can continue editing it.
- Pending: The contract has been sent and is waiting for one or more recipients. A recipient may already have opened it.
- Changes requested: A recipient has asked for changes. Review their notes, update the contract and send the revised version.
- Signed: All required recipients have completed signing.
- Rejected: A recipient rejected the contract, so the signing cycle is closed.
- Expired: The signing deadline passed before all required signatures were completed.
- Voided: The sender stopped the active signing cycle. Outstanding signing links no longer work.
Contracts that need attention
The Needs attention filter includes pending contracts, requested changes and rejected contracts. Open a contract to review its recipient progress, notes and available next actions.
Archived contracts
Archived is not a signing status. Archiving removes a completed or otherwise closed contract from the active list while keeping its record. Use the Archived filter when you need to find or restore it.
Status changes are based on actions in Scriboflow. If the displayed status is unexpected, open the contract timeline to see the events that led to it.
